![]() If you shoot an armed hostile that you could have yelled at and made to submit, game over. ![]() That’s right, if you shoot an unarmed hostile, game over. In case the possibility of losing by being killed in the line of duty isn’t sufficient, you can also lose in another way – by being the perpetrator of any “unnecessary violence”. What I didn’t count on is this – although the map is static, the positions of the people on the map very much is not. Annoying, sure, but I knew I was bad at the game already. Initially, I thought all I would need to do is die enough to memorize the positions of everyone I had to rescue and/or neutralize. I mean, probably not actually impossible, but I certainly couldn’t do it. The first post-tutorial mission got me a couple of times, but I eventually got through it. The tutorial takes you through your basic SWAT equipment – a couple of guns, a taser, some flashbangs and an explosive charge which will take out pretty much any door, window or wall you plant it on. No, Hot Brass is – more or less – playing the SWAT team simulator straight. If you also have a weird brain, let me reassure you that nothing about this game is trying to be funny. See, in my head, Hot Brass sounds like Hot Fuzz, which I have never seen precisely because it’s not the kind of thing I find entertaining. When I first looked at this month’s Humble Choice, I kind of wrinkled my nose at Hot Brass, but probably not for the reason you might think. ![]() My brain makes strange associations sometimes. Personally, I enjoy a bit of cop-aganda when it comes to books and movies, so I figured I’d take one for the team this month. Nowadays, police protagonists can be a tough sell. It’s not a big surprise that no one was clamoring to take on Hot Brass this month. These titles tend to be either very niche or of middling (or worse) quality. Let’s be real – the eighth spot in a Humble Choice isn’t really where any game wants to be.
